And now a little bit about our fearless (unless you are talking about snakes), remarkably funny, Founder and Owner of Underwater Adventures LLC-Mark R Smith

Mark R Smith got certified as a NAUI Scuba Diver in 1973 while attending LSU. He had his sights on the Commercial Diving Industry and in 1977 he earned his Commercial License from Ocean Corporation. In 1978 Ocean Corporation invited Mark back to teach the same courses that he had completed the previous year. While still teaching at Ocean Corp he earned his NAUI Instructor Certificate and started to teach private scuba courses. From 1980 to 1983 Mark worked in the Oil Fields diving throughout South America and the Gulf of Mexico. In 1984 he opened a successful commercial diving business-Underwater Services. For the next six years he continued to add to his resume becoming a YMCA Scuba Instructor in 1985 and in 1989 he acquired his Basic EMT & Hyperbaric Technician license. He taught scuba classes and worked in & along the Mississippi River until he finally decided to open his own Scuba Diving Center where he would be able to share his enthusiasm of the underwater world. In 1992 he obtained his PADI Instructor Certificate and in 1998 he completed his SSI Instructor Course. Since Mark has always been involved with Local Sheriff, Fire and Police Departments he decided in 2000 to become a Public Safety Dive Instructor. Three years later Mark completed his NAUI Instructor Trainer and finally in 2007 he earned his NAUI Course Director! It has been 35 years since Mark R Smith started that scuba class at LSU and he still hasn't lost any of that passion for learning about the underwater environment or teaching others....
